As we enter a new year, we will gather once again to celebrate the children and families that have been treated by the Medical College of Georgia.

The 3rd annual Night of White will take place on February 27, 2010 from 7 - 10 p.m. in St. Paul's River Room on Reynolds Street in downtown Augusta. The cost to attend this charitable event is $50 per person, which includes a catered dinner, an open bar and live music.

The Night of White is the annual benefit dinner and silent auction to raise funds for pediatric care at MCG. The pediatric healthcare professionals care tirelessly for their young patients, and this benefit also honors their dedication and commitment to helping more children.

This year, our board decided to create an endowment in the name of Brennan Simkins, a local child battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Brennan is the son of Turner and Tara Simkins. The endowment will consist of half of all funds raised at the Night of White and will be directed to pediatric cancer research at MCG. The other half of funds raised will go to pediatric dentistry, for children who are treated at MCG

The 12 Bands of Christmas group, who supports the fight against pediatric cancer through music, is offering a free song on their Web site in support of this event. Turner Simkins wrote the song, entitled 'One Little Boy', in honor of Brennan and his cancer battle.

Volunteers have worked for months to garner an impressive list of donations for the silent auction, Club Car has donated a Golf Car, Windsor Jewelers, a diamond necklace, Treasures for your home, a $3,000.00 piece of furniture, The jewelers Bench, an $800.00 pearl necklace, and many more exceptional items for bid. A guest list that in the past has included Congressman and Mrs. Paul Broun and Senator and Mrs. Ed Tarver. Last year, Georgia football team receiver, A.J. Green, C. J. Byrd, Sanders Commings, and Shawn Chapas participated in autograph signing during the event.

This year's guest list includes 7 UGA football players, as well as Miss Teen USA, Miss Georgia, Miss Savannah River and Miss Augusta. We are pleased to announce that ABC is sending four television stars from the soap opera, One Life to Live, to support our charity event. They are Brett Claywell, who plays Kyle Lewis (Also best known for his role as Tim Smith on the CW television series One Tree Hill). Trevor St. John, who plays Todd Manning, Dan Gauthier, who plays Kevin Buchanan, and John Brotherton, who played Jared Banks. Our snowflake theme refers to the uniqueness of the children that MCG treats - like snowflakes, no two of them are alike. During the cold winter months, the Night of White is a warm recognition of caring for children in need.

Please join us at the Night of White event to honor and celebrate the lives of MCG's pediatric patients.

"Night of White" is an independent event to benefit pediatric care at MCG, and the event does not operate under the auspices of the Medical College of Georgia or MCG Health, Inc."
